As with
all historical buildings and places Hofgut Imsbach
is surrounded by a series of fascinating stories.
Myths and anecdotes, memories and facts. Some of
them are true, others have been made up over the
years through hearsay. All of them however have
contributed in ensuring that the locals and people
of the region kept the memory of the Hofgut Imsbach
estate alive throughout the centuries.
The foundation stones of today’s building
were laid by an ancient settlement whose origins
date back to the Bronze Age. The first written evidence
of this place was found in the late Middle Ages
and an entry from 1585 describes Hofgut Imsbach
as an independent Lotharingian district on the borders
to Trier. The beginning of the 19th century , Napoleon’s
era ,was Hofgut Imsbach’s heyday. Since the
French revolution in 1789 Hofgut Imsbach was considered
French national property and as such handed over
to Colonel de Cavalerie Narcisse Lapointe by Napoleon
Bonaparte. It was presented to him as a decoration
of special merit for his outstanding services. |
